Are pop feminists stonewalling the truth about Battered Husbands?
I got a call today from a battered man in San Pedro (Los Angeles Harbor community). He phoned ABC yesterday or today to order a videotape of Friday, September 19, 1997, 20/20 on battered men. They told him that the tapes are no longer available and had no explanation.
If this story is correct, it is VERY unusual. Several weeks or a few months after a broadcast, it is sometimes not possible to order a tape. But to refuse to take orders within a week of the broadcast is not typical.
It may be worthwhile to note the following:
When KCBS (flagship station for CBS in L.A.) sent a crew to tape me for their news broadcast which immediately followed the world premiere of "Men Don't Tell" (made for TV movie about a battered husband, a clip of which was used in the recent 20/20 segment), the reporter told me that they had already been receiving protests from women's groups, demanding that they not air the film!I wonder if any such pressure might be behind this report of tape unavailability?
Regardless, a transcript of the segment is available at 20/20's site.
