Winter finally settled in at Gopher Prairie. We had a nice snow on Thanksgiving, about 8 inches. Only Alaska's winters beat Minnesota's.
A couple of months ago I told you about formation of a girl's high school hockey league here. The latest in our parade of lunacy is a lawsuit by one Jennifer Brown demanding a slot on the boy's school wrestling team. Now it should be obvious this is silly. Crotch holds are common. She may not mind being grabbed there, or on the boobs, but boys should have some rights. If the situation were reversed, women's lib would scream bloody murder.
On the subject of local happenings, Florida now has a counseling program to help children cope with divorce. This is like trying to accommodate crabs to boiling water. State governments could help children far more by preventing destruction of their homes, with the simply introduction of fairness into divorce. Instead, with financial and political support of the lawyers' lobby, they concern themselves more with preserving the divorce racket.
On Dec. 7th, CBS TV evening news showed a tape of women "firepersons" who couldn't handle the simplest of firefighting duties. It was like a Keystone Cops comedy. Libbers are outraged.
November's electoral shift in the direction of common sense should bode well for men, certainly in general areas, such as employment, and possibly even in divorce. Witness: The value of fathers and traditional concepts of right and wrong are being reasserted, and big government (which is inherently misandric) is under attack. The new guys are eliminating subsidies for about 25 unnecessary caucuses, include the "Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues." Again, libbers are outraged.
A potential friend of divorced men has gained influence in Congress. Newt Gingrich, incoming Speaker of the House, endured a bitter divorce. Of course, male and female feminists alike make him out to be an orge about that.
If we can convince Newt there is a large political constituency out here, anti-male laws could be reversed. The Constitution's 10th amendment might even be honored again. It reserves to the states and the people all powers not delegated to the central government. The Constitution, by no stretch of the imagination, delegates collection of alimony/support to the federal Leviathan. Remember, "child support" is the politically correct term for alimony/support. Don't mimic it.
