Recently, Mel Feit, Executive Director of the National Center for Men, and George Gilliland, Executive Director of the Domestic Rights Coalition, were featured together on the Rolonda show to talk about domestic violence against men. Charlotte Watson, Executive Director of "My Sister's Place," a shelter for battered women, also appeared.
Although there were several high points, the most astonishing came when Ms. Watson threatened Feit.
She had spoken at length without letting Mel respond, and then, when he finally did get to respond to some of her rants (which included such ludicrous and discredited assertions as the one that says the "rule of thumb" refers to a legal standard for determining how thick a stick a man could use to beat his wife), she repeatedly tried to interrupt him. When he held his ground, she stood up and threatened him. A classic case of "give 'em enough rope."
While Feit and Gilliland were superb, the highest praise goes to the host, Rolonda Watts, who comported herself with grace and dignity throughout the sometimes heated debate.
