The murder of two small boys by their South Carolina mother was tragic and unexplainable. My question is, why does the media try to slant the story in such a way as to try to blame a man or at least men?
When the story broke, the media tried to blame a boyfriend who supposedly told Susan Smith to get rid of the kids as he wanted her, but not the children. Later, stories stated that the killing of children by a mother is "extremely rare and that it is men, boyfriends or the father who usually kill their children."
This is false.
A recent Justice Department report, Murder in Families, based on a study of more than 8,000 homicides, found that mothers are more likely than fathers to kill their children, and "when a mother killed her child, she was more likely to murder a son than a daughter: 64 percent killed sons, while 36 percent killed daughters."
Domestic relations courts routinely give custody of our children to the mother at a time when the children are in danger. The father of those two boys was kept away from his sons by the "Family Court."
Trying to somehow blame a man for this horrible crime is as wrong as the Mother falsely accusing a "black man" for the abduction of the children.
