It’s time for Washington, D.C., to come out of the dark ages.

If there was ever a time when the Cowlitz people needed to pull together, it is now. Tell your congressman that the inhumanity of HR 2997 IH must stop, that in the name of progress they need to move into the modern era and put this greedy and mean-spirited legislation to rest.

I am horrified that in this day of enlightenment there are people who dare to make such proposals. I am angry, sad and disappointed that suchy stupidity still raises its ugly head.

Our Elders have hoped and prayed for recognition from this foreign government. Now our Elders have disappeared and we must carry on their fight. I urge all Cowlitz to leap into action and show these people that we are a force to be reckoned with.

Is this government so smart? They have polluted our rivers, destroyed our fishing, yet we must beg them for recognition.

I wish we could declare war, then maybe the U.S. government would treat us better. But all we can do is protest.

I love my people. We are in this fight together. Let’s fight this.
