Breast-feeding bill
There's a new bill in Washington State to make it legal to breast-feed in public:

Rep. Tami Green, D-Lakewood, is sponsoring HB 1596, which would protect a mother's right to breast-feed in public. -- Bill to breast-feed in public sponsored, By Chantal Anderson, Seattle Times, Friday, February 6, 2009.

Breast-feeding is natural and, depending on the health of the mother, good for babies. Personally I have no problem with breast-feeding in public as long as a couple caveats are in place.

It ought to be done under cover. If the law does not require that, then the courts and authorities ought to be prohibited from reacting like a bunch of feminazis when men see them.

In the eyes of men
In the eyes of most men, a woman who shows her cleavage and breasts in public is engaging in conduct of a sexual nature. Doesn't matter what the politically correct courts, nature or feminazis say, most men just do.

So if a woman bares one or both breasts to nurse, there will be times when men will see. Most men will sneak peeks, some will do double takes, and a few will ogle. It's the nature of the beast.

When men rule
Feminazis who sneer and claim that if men look it creates hostile environment sexual harassment just don't get it. First, seeing and looking do not constitute conduct of a sexual nature. If they were, then everybody who is not blind would be guilty.

But if the law and courts say that any men who see and look at a woman baring her breasts in public are engaging in conduct of a sexual nature, then it is made so by the woman's actions; hence, she would be the one initiating the conduct, and the courts should be required to acknowledge and act on that basis.

Second, in hostile environment sexual harassment cases, what constitutes conduct of a sexual nature is defined by the sex of the alleged victim. If the victim is a woman, then men have no say in the matter: women rule. But if the victim is a man, then women have no say in the matter: men rule.

And most men view a woman exposing, revealing, uncovering or otherwise allowing her breasts to be seen in public as conduct of a sexual nature.

The Reasonable Standard
To avoid legal hassles, when nursing in public women should be required to drop a cloth or something over their chest and make reasonable efforts to cover up. It's the reasonable thing to do.

Either that, or the law and courts should be required to acknowledge that if it's okay for women to go bare, then it's okay for men to look. Because it's neither the baring nor the staring that makes it harassment, but hostile accusations that male appreciation is obscene.

And guys, remember that regardless of what the feminazis claim it's okay for men to appreciate women. Don't be rude, crass or vulgar, just smile and be on about your business. Like breast-feeding, it's the natural and healthy thing to do.
