In this column I pose questions and raise issues. I don't always agree with the conclusion, implied or stated. The purpose is to put a slightly different spin on each item and to promote discussion.
- Orthodox entitlements are liberated self-entitlements.
- A growing number of American corporations use deep pockets and high priced lawyers to transcend both the rights of the individual and the needs of the community in the name of maintaining and increasing the price of their stock
- According to CNN, even though Clinton is busy killing Kosovars ('scuse the "collateral damage") 53% of Americans still approve his job performance. This would be consistent with Patricia Ireland's observations. As Ireland, president of the National Organization for Women, has repeatedly noted, Clinton "was elected twice with overwhelming support from women." Do men comprise the majority of Americans who oppose the bombing?
- To provide appropriate role models for children we have to treat every child fairly and on the basis of respect. This should be self-evident.
- Eventually there will be a serious confrontation between China and the west. In the west, strategists learn the logic of Chess, but this will not help in any situation involving China, where they play by the logic of Go.
- Every woman who is physically capable can get up in the morning, look in the mirror and say, "today I will have sex," and unless she is held prisoner somewhere, by the end of the day she will have sex. The only men who can make the same claim are called rapists.
- When young blacks kill, en masse or just one victim at a time, no matter the life led by the perpetrator the crime always arises out of their oppression. In the wake of the Littleton massacre, however, black feminists attribute the crime to white patriarchal privilege. That is, if the perpetrator is black, it's because they're oppressed, but if the perpetrator is white, it's because they're privileged. That's a racist double standard.
- In the sixties pundits blamed their parents for America's problems. Now, many of those same pundits are blaming kids for things like the massacre in Littleton, Colorado. What's wrong with this picture?
- The liberal establishment is up in arms because the Makah Indian tribe has harvested a whale. Yet virtually all of these oh-so-enlightened individuals say nothing while American bombers under the command of NATO kill civilians in Yugoslavia. Moreover, the treaties they would dismiss so blithely were made in exchange for the Washington State Peninsula. Would they break those treaties? Then they can give the Peninsula back.
- According to the National Organization for Women, poverty and violence affect women disproportionately. Yet, according to the American Bureau of Justice Statistics, American men and boys are killed and assaulted far more often than women and girls, and according to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 1997 although 1,793,000 more women (5,240,000) than men (3,447,000) lived in poverty, not only are most of those women accounted for by households (3,995,000) where the man has either been driven out or in some other way not invited to remain in the home by feminist and liberal produced national policies, but the homeless are not included in these statistics. As close to 80% of the homeless are male, this indicates the Census report is biased to under report male poverty. Bottom line: where poverty "disproportionately" affects women, much of it can be directly attributed either to feminist/liberal policies or biased reporting, and the assertion violence disproportionately affects women is a bald faced lie.
- The bigot is the last one to see their bigotry.
- If hate is a crime, then emotion is a crime. Feelings are an emotional response to life and we all have them. Dismissing some feelings as a crime is simplistic. Responding to hate with a back handed dismissal - being "intolerant of intollerance" - only gives rise to more hatred and intolerance.
- According to the latest medical research reported on The Learning Channel, it is the egg that controls conception. If the egg is not ready, the sperm settle to wait until called. If the call never comes, they die. Once the call is given, however, the female body literally creates a vacuum which sucks sperm onward toward conception. Applying the feminist logic used by new rage women under the previous paradigm which held that sperm fought their way toward penetration of the innocent egg in an act of microscopic rape, that would make the egg the "aggressor" who "engulfs" some hapless sperm. By such bigoted logic, who's the rapist now?
- Frequently we are accosted by young people selling candy, most often in support of programs to "keep kids off the streets, out of gangs, and off drugs." Two generations ago we had a similar program called "Dad." Dad made sure we were home at dinner time, in bed at bedtime, and if we spent more time with a bad crowd than allowed by Dad guidelines, then Dad gave us things called "chores" to do to assure we were too busy for gangs. Unfortunately, Dad is no longer available in many neighborhoods thanks to feminist efforts to replace it with programs supported by candy money.
- CNN reports Bibil, son of Saddam Hussein, is calling for terrorists around the world to strike against the United States because he believes we are too preoccupied with the ill-conceived military action against Kosovo to respond. If he truly believes that, he's as much the imbecile as Bill Clinton. For decades, Americans have worked to make the American Military-Industrial Complex more responsive to the opportunities afforded by peace; all it would take is an incident such as the one this fool demands to bring the American war machine back to life and, the incompetence of hucksters like Clinton aside, the American military is far more potent than even most Americans realize.
- Why are most Freeway onramps constructed such that you can't see if the Freeway is congested until it's too late to choose an alternate route (thereby both easing your trip and mitigating Freeway congestion)?
- When white men do not eagerly embrace feminist and African American issues, it's called sexism and racism. When white men are hostile toward women and African American's we call it sexism and racism. So, what should we call feminist and African American indifference or hostility toward American Indians and American Indian men?
