"The tribunal agreed with her and awarded her a total of £8,564 compensation, including £2,826 for sexual discrimination and £5,350 for her injured feelings." - London Times.
Gays and lesbians sue for right to marry: April 12, 2001 - Seven lesbian and gay couples are suing the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for rejecting their applications for marriage licenses. Laurence Tribe, professor of constitutional law at Harvard, believes the Massachusetts Constitution supports the suit, but Governor Jane Swift disagrees: "I think that marriage and the recognition of marriage is an important institution in our commonwealth and in our country and should be for heterosexual couples." - Boston Globe.
