Women get paid less than men, ranging around seventy cents for every dollar men are paid. If you focus on apples-to-oranges comparisons, that is.

Money is a common gripe among pop feminists. "Women's work is undervalued." "Women make only 71 cents on the male dollar." "Men control the purse strings." "It's a man's world."

An inconvenient fact is that, in the US, the unemployment rate for men has consistently averaged higher than for women. Another is that the majority of Human Resource personnel (people who make the hiring decisions) are women. And, let's not forget how many women choose to postpone their careers or give top priority to raising a family while expecting men to take up the slack.

We can hope for better days. We can work to sustain our technological, social and economic progress. And we can do all these things without a scapegoat. Wouldn't you agree?
