MERGE thinking: neither masculine nor feminine -- how to bridge the gap.
Paul Shaner Sr. on the purpose of MERGE -- to bridge the gender gap. While feminist gender concerns are well publicized, men's gender issues are practically invisible. The issues are both equal and opposite. If you turn a feminist issue on its head, you get a men's issue, and vice versa, and the two are often functionally connected.
Joint 50-50 Custody: how to make it work
Libby Kelleher and her ex-husband have managed a completely equal custody arrangement for many years. She finds the arrangement to be to both their advantage and it is certainly beneficial to their daughter. Libby wants more people to know that joint custody is the best arrangement, and how to make that arrangement work.
M.E.R.G.E. began in Edmonton and publishes a journal and several monographs on gender issues. The Seattle group is the second chapter and was begun by a group of men and women who wanted to do more than simply talk about gender issues. If you are interested in more information, call Paul Shaner, M.S.W., President, at 486-4966, or Moreah Vestan, Founder, at 938-8385.
Note: The organization is now defunct and the magazine is out of print.
